Ontstoken tandvlees, ook wel gingivitis genoemd, is een ontsteking van het tandvlees die vaak wordt veroorzaakt door de opbouw van tandplak en tandsteen. Hier zijn enkele van de meest voorkomende behandelingsopties voor ontstoken tandvlees:<\/span><\/p>\n

    Ontstoken tandvlees (Gingivitis)<\/h1>\r\n

    Gingivitis beter bekend als ontstoken tandvlees ontstaat als reactie op de aanwezigheid van bacteri\u00ebn in aanwezig tandplak en tandsteen op de tanden en kiezen. Gingivitis is een beginnende ontsteking die nog heel oppervlakkig aan de rand van het tandvlees zit<\/h4>\r\n

    De ontstekingsreactie zorgt er voor dat het tandvlees rood wordt, gaat opzwellen en makkelijk gaat bloeden bij het aanraken. Deze aanwijzingen zijn echter niet altijd bij iedereen aanwezig. De ruimte tussen de tanden\/kiezen en het tandvlees hoort normaal gesproken niet dieper dan 3 milimeter te zijn. Door een ontsteking kan deze ruimte dieper worden. Daarom is het geadviseerd om regelmatig een mondhygi\u00ebnist te bezoeken ter controle.<\/h4>\r\n

    Indien er sprake is van gingivitis is dit makkelijk te behandelen bij de mondhygi\u00ebnist door gebitsreiniging. Wanneer je vervolgens zelf je gebit daarna goed schoon houdt\u00a0volgens de instructies van de mondhygi\u00ebnist zal de ontsteking verdwijnen en het tandvlees weer strak rondom je tanden en kiezen gaan liggen. De ruimte tussen de tanden\/kiezen en het tandvlees zal dan minder dan 3 milimeter diep zijn en niet meer gevoelig zijn en bloeden tijdens het verzorgen ervan. Laat regelmatig je gebit controleren om te voorkomen dat aanwezige gingivitis verergert of weer ontstaat.<\/h4>\r\n

    Indien gingivitis niet behandeld wordt door de mondhygi\u00ebnist en jouzelf kan dit later verergeren en zich verder ontwikkelen tot de aandoening parodontitis.<\/h4>\r\n
